Accountant II

The LUX Group is looking for an Accountant II. Our growing company, with 6 brands in the hospitality industry, is looking for a positive, energetic and organized accountant that can boast of having a superpower in attention to detail. This is a part-time role with the possibility of growing into additional hours. The time requirement is weighted during the monthly accounting close which is approximately business day 6 through 20.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare financial reports monthly, quarterly, and annually such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Collaborate with colleagues to monitor completeness and accuracy of information.
  • Prepare ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts including depreciation and amortization schedules, prepaids and intercompany accounts.
  • Transfer financial information into management reports and metric dashboards.
  • Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns and annual property tax filing.
  • Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and propose solutions to streamline operations and increase accuracy.
  • Provide backup support to the accounting and administrative team for A/P, A/R and other duties as needed.
  • Monitor inventory information provided by business units for accuracy and make appropriate journal entries monthly.
  • Prepare journal entries for bi weekly payroll and ensure payroll is processed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of budget and forecasts and maintain reports related to actual vs. budget.
  • Collaborate with and report to the CFO on monthly and quarterly financial goals and deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Advanced skills in Excel and Quickbooks. 
  • Attention to detail for complex financial data. 
  • Strong understanding of financial principles.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience) -minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands-on accounting. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • A high degree of integrity and a ‘can do’, flexible style is needed for this role.
  • A strength in adhering to deadlines is a requirement.
