Melyssa and Luan celebrated their marriage at River Oaks before continuing to St. George, Utah for their temple ceremony the following day. Inspired by the tones and textures of Southern Utah’s desert landscape, they wanted their River Oaks celebration to reflect warm clay hues, sculptural florals, and natural movement against the lush backdrop of the Jordan River Parkway.

The Menu

Dinner centered on curated stations woven throughout the gardens. Guests moved freely between Grilled & Gathered bowls layered with sweet pork barbacoa or grilled steak, Elote Street Corn finished with crema, cotija, and layered toppings, and a Churro Bar with warm dipping sauces. The landscape became part of the experience, creating energy and conversation across the patio and lawn.

Effortless Refreshment

Agua frescas in cucumber mint lime, strawberry hibiscus, and mango ginger were served from hammered copper dispensers into clay cantaritos with bamboo straws. Infused waters and produce-forward displays reinforced a palette of citrus, clay, and sun-warmed color. Beverage stations were positioned intentionally throughout the space so refreshment flowed naturally with the rhythm of the evening.

The Design

LUX Floral & Design translated desert inspiration into sculptural installations featuring protea, celosia, succulents, and copper-toned elements. Cement columns, rattan lanterns, and layered florals framed the ceremony and anchored the reception. Bold desert tones sat confidently against the green surroundings of River Oaks, creating a setting that felt grounded, vibrant, and distinctly Utah.
