LUX is built on passion and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We are obsessed with innovation and pushing boundaries. We believe that education is the key to our success! In order to propel our successes we created and developed a program called LUX University.
What is LUX University?
It is an integral part of our team dynamic! We have opened up the opportunity for continued education to all of our employees. LUX sponsors multiple conferences and employees throughout the year to assist them in their forward education. By investing time and financial resources in our employees continued education it allows them to grow within the company, as well as in their personal development!
Along with sending team members to conferences like the Leading Caterers of America (LCA) Executive Summit, Catersource, Wedding MBA, Disney Institute, and more, we spend hundreds of hours annually creating and executing in-house trainings. We invest in programs like this because our teams are the heart of our success, and propels our motivation to constantly serve you, our client!
Along with internal education, we believe educating our peers and community is just as important! In 2019, we created two new roles in our company – Director of Staff Development and Business Development Manager.
Director of Staff Development was designed to be the catalyst for programs like LUX University. Betsy Solmonson has dedicated her heart and soul to the LUX family and has stepped up in this new position to help our teams flourish.
Our Business Development Manager was created to identify and implement new practices within our company and our community! Zevin Spears has transitioned from his position as a LUX Event Producer into this new role. He spends his days cultivating new relationships and nurturing existing partnerships with clients, venues, and vendors alike!
Zevin was recently given the amazing opportunity to educate his peers at The University of Utah’s 7th Annual Planning Successful Meetings on Campus Conference.
Zevin proudly educated approximately 200 attendees at this conference and spoke about Catering Tips & Tricks Keeping Conventional Catering Unconventional. He taught attendees how to keep buffets interactive for guests, how to create local buzz around your event, how to keep your catering order sustainable, and so much more!
Teaching at this conference was one of many opportunities our new Director of Business Development hopes to create. Zevin attends 2-6 networking events per month and takes the time to get to know attendees and educate them on why LUX is different.
